CPD requirementsstate by state.
Every Australian state and territory sets its own continuing professional development rules for keeping a real estate licence or registration current. Here is what each regulator actually requires each year, who it applies to, and what you have to keep on file.

New South Wales
Mandatory annual CPD, set by licence class and category.
- Class 2 licence holders complete structured, interactive training from an approved provider against Fair Trading's compulsory topics for their category — for example 7 hours across 4 compulsory topics for residential real estate salespeople, buyers agents, commercial agents and stock & station agents, and 6 hours across 3 compulsory topics for strata managing agents.
- Class 1 licence holders complete the same core CPD for every category they hold, plus attendance at a Fair Trading accredited industry forum for each licence category.
- Class 1 holders in relevant areas of practice (residential sales, buyers agents, commercial, business broking, stock & station) must also complete AUSTRAC's real estate AML/CTF training.
- Assistant agents (certificate of registration) complete at least 3 units of competency each CPD year from the Certificate IV qualification required for their area of practice.
- Dual licence holders complete the requirement for each category they hold — hours are additive, not shared.
- Recent entrants: if the licence or certificate commenced within 90 days of the end of the CPD year, an exemption generally applies; 3–9 months before the end of the year, assistant agents complete a minimum of 1 unit.
Keep certificates and statements of attainment: 3 years for licence holders, 4 years for certificate of registration holders. You declare compliance at renewal and Fair Trading audits records.
Fair Trading can refuse renewal, impose conditions, or take disciplinary action for incomplete CPD.
The Agent Academy delivers CPD-equivalent professional development for licensed agents — interactive, assessed and built by practitioners still working the phones, the rostrum and the leasing desks. Prospecting, listing presentations, negotiation, objection handling, auction craft and trust-handling discipline: the skill work that keeps your income moving while your licence stays current. Every program is certificated and logged in your learner record as evidence of ongoing professional development.
